Okay, I stand by my 'should have stayed in the original order' credo, but other than that, well it was a great way to introduce the 'big bad' of the new 'world' that has demons just walking around willy nilly possessing who ever they want, hmm, but not our boys who got some interesting tatt's! I wonder how many people are gonna bring this pic to the tatt parlor after this episode

Sam Dean Tatts

Okay, now I know some people are gonna be all anti-Ruby after this episode, but I can't do it, I love the girl!! I mean, COME ON! She was ready to DIE so that the boys could still fight the good fight, and I mean, yeah, hate her if you want, but can you really say she was wrong? It's the way to win a battle, and I think the whole 'asking Dean to help toughen up Sam' thing was completely lost on Dean. Because they couldn't let a willing girl give her life to save them (although I am glad they didn't because that would have meant bye bye Ruby) the new power killed them all anyways! I mean, they should go with her plan anyways, because she has a couple hundred years experience, and she DID battle her way outta the gate, and that crazy demon in MM said, it was one hell of a fight!! Additionally I think Kripke was a genius to think up the character of Ruby, because she gets to say all the things the hypercritical audience (like myself) want to say. Tells it like it is, so we know that the buys aren't 'perfect' in the eyes of the writers.

AND like I said in Shazz' blog, it is now major suckage because they lost a potentially amazing hunter in the process. Seriously, Henrickson already had the whole 'I hate my job, and need anew direction' thing going, I could see him as an amazing help to the boys, he has all the training, and was pretty quick to jump on the 'demons are real' train after he was possessed, which given is hard to deny once one has violated your personal space, but I digress.

If they just would have done it Ruby's way they could have had another hunter to fight the war that is now looking d@mn scary. And sorry to say, but Ruby keeps having to swoop in and help the boys out of every jam they have put themselves in, even helping them throw the new power off their trail so they can find Bela and get back the colt, which as Ruby pointed out, they should have never let out of their sight in the first place!! I mean I hate to say it, and I love the boys, buut they need to man up and start acting like this is an actual war instead of some random demon attack! Sam even said, they need to start thinking in strategy, and moves ahean, and like the trickster said, because they are each others biggest weaknesses, Sam went with Dean's idea a got a bunch of people killed, it was by sheer luck (and you know, writing the ep so that the boys would live ) that they left when they did. Ruby was once again right, if THIS is how they are going to fight against the demon army, anyone with half a brain should bet on the horse that has an actual battle plan (and a strong one at that), and if THIS is the way they are gonna fight the war, they mine as well walk into he|| right now, because they don't stand a chance of winning unless they start making the hard decisions.

And before I forget, loved memorized Latin Sammy!! I mean, I may just be a big Nerd, but holy man! I mean, even that 'demon chick in Ohio Casey' said that Sam is the well-known smart one! LOL, except for the ya know, getting half a dozen people killed by trying to 'do the right thing'. OH, and YAY for a secret between the bros FINALLY being revealed! I mean, they have been keeping stuff from each other in multiples this season, and I thik above the whole 'each other being their biggest weaknesses' they can possibly overcome that of they work together, and STOP with the secret keeping!

One more thing (I know, sorry) but what the he|| is up with the John bashing?! Now complete strangers are doing it!! I mean, that remark Henrickson made was just WRONG! I mean, seriously! Okay, and I know a few of you don't like John, but PLEASE don't tell e how the whole 'sexual abuse' thing is a possibility....I mean, really, come on! AND also, I am a little raw from a customer threatening me today, so pleas, if you didn't get the hint about how much I hate the John bashing, let me spell it out, Please, in the name of all that is Supernatural, me into thinking John was anything but the best man/father he could be under the circumstances. Cause it's just not gonna happen.

Alright, done ranting now, sheesh, that takes a lot outta you...

I was with Ruby's side in this one because somehow i knew that this wouldn't end well.
Yes, the one secret came out although i suspect that Sam knows what Ruby told Dean

I hated that Henriksen implied John used some form of incest on the boys, plus they bashed Sam TWICE in this ep, something else that pissed me off! Lilith called Dean the cute one and Sam the tall one! And Henricksen referred to Sam as the half-wit brother! That pissed me off, too!Love, Robin

I know some people are mixed about John. (I haven't seen the ep yet- I live in the UK and will watch it tonight) but I am familiar with what was said last night. I think it was a throw away comment towards Dean, from someone like Henrickson who at first would have just laughed about any 'supernatural' going ons. I think that for people like Henrickson at first, it is easy to assume that the child or someone like Dean would have had a 'warped' upbringing- like devils and demons. I mean, I am open to wide belief myself but if someone siad to me - Oh I have been trained to kill demons- I would think- HOOOLY okay, uh, what the heck has been put in your head?

I think Henrickson was doing the standard cliched - your parents warped you- thing and the abuse was just to throw a (emotional) punch towards Dean.

I hope i made sense!! :)

You totally made sense! :) And yeah, but I mean, the writers ha e done it twice in the last few episodes now, I mean, they are adults now, they have to take charge of who they have become and stop playing the 'I had a bad childhood so it's my parents fault I am unbalanced' card, I am just getting sick of it, but I know what you are saying, I just think it would have been fine without the incest ref....

Eh the John bashing isn't new from Henriksen...he was going off of what he saw, not what was true. But yeah...I think as much as John tried, everyone tends to have issues with him. But once they get over it, like Dean, they'll realize he tried. For the situation he was in he did the best he could.

But yeah...rest of the episode was awesome. :-)

Thanks, THAT is all I'm saying! He got dealt a sh!t hand, and made the best out of it that he could, I mean, the poor guy loses his wife AND finds out about Supernatural Evil all in one fell swoop, so yeah, you put it exactly how I meant it, he gets a bad wrap, but he did his best! LOL

And yeah, awesomeness insued...:)

I mean hell, even *I* have issues with how he treated his sons, but it all boils down to the fact that he got handed a shitty deal and tried to raise AND prepare his boys for their own safety...but sadly it just made them be somewhat resentful. I do think him climbing out of hell to save Dean made up for it...and now that Dean's come to terms with things he'll be ok I think...you know once he gets out of this deal and everything. :-)

I think Ruby lied out of her ears about the spell, at least that it would take her out too. Her crankiness at the end makes no sense for me otherwise. The brothers live, she lives so it worked out much better for her. (She doesn`t care one iota about the people that died as initially she wanted to use the Colt.)

And it was just a measly little skirmish in the demon war where afterwards she would be out of it and unable to help. No way that`s in her agenda.
I think she wanted Sam to corrupt himself and was angry it didn`t work.

Also the plan would have worked if only the salt-brigade outside was a)faster or b)mentioned a demon escaped. The plan itself was fine.

To me if they`d followed Ruby`s plan it would have made them utterly naive. She admitted to lying to manipulate both of them, the fact that on the surface she appears "helpful" doesn`t make her trustworthy.

Which by the by is not me hating the character. I think Ruby works as a figure with a hidden agenda but I was disappointed that in the end they didn`t contradict her. She doesn`t call the shots for them.

Okay, few things, she wanted to use the colt probably as a threat to get them out, by either making an example, or killing one of the stronger (like the chick that tossed the boys) demons, she wasn't going to kill anyone that wasn't possessed besides the virgin, who AGREED to help.

Also, she never claimed that her plan was without collateral damage, just that it would keep the people that were already safe, as they were.

I do think that they need to (if you don't think they should trust her, fine I won't try to sway you) but I do think they can at the very least use her. She has a lot more knowledge about the war, and what is going on, AND she knows how to defeat demons, because she is one, she has inside info.

So, the boys plan sucked, and so did hers, so it is a toss up if you want to look at it that way, either way (both plans would have had the same outcome in the following respect), they wouldn't have gotten Lilith, because she is SMART enough to know, you let the foot soldiers go in and do the fighting to retrieve who/what you want, and then you can come finish the job after the threat is neutralized.

They didn't contradict her mostly because she was right ;) LOL, I know you believe otherwise, but their plan killed the people who were there with them, fighting, and they were too quick to jump to the celebrating of "we are soo cool, our plan worked" they didn't THINK to tie up loose ends, or check if there were any mistakes (i.e. the guy getting out). THEY are the hunters afterall, that poor chick doesn't have a clue, and didn't have to tell them, because she didn't know the significance of one of them leaving, to her, it was just relief that he LEFT and didn't kill her on his way out. She doesn't have all the facts, so the boys should have made sure.

It was a lose lose situation, but I think they have a better chance of winning more battles if Ruby continues to help them, and they actually listen to her, she does have an insiders perspective and knows what will and won't work (case in point, the boys plan didn't work, and we will never know if hers would have)....

WOW, okay, didn't mean to get so rambly, and don't mean to offend, I am a born debater, it's the Italian in me LOL, so yeah, you can ignore all this if you want, and THANKS FOR YOUR OPINION! :d

No offense taken, I love a good discussin myself. *g*

My take on Ruby is just that the spell was never her true plan in the first place. Maybe such a spell doesn`t even exist and she made it up to have it "miraculously" not work or outright triumph because Sam agreed to an evil act and that was the one thing she wanted in the first place. IMO her agenda is still hidden which I like. To me it makes the character more interesting.

Hmm, interesting, I don't think she wants him to commit an outright act of evil, she said in Sin City that if he didn't feel remorse about the things he would be forced to do to win tis war, he wouldn't be Sammy, but I do think she wants him to be able to make the decisions about whether sacrificing one can save many is worth it in the big picture.

And yeah, I do think the element of mystery surrounding Ruby and not being sure her intent is what she says keeps the character interesting! Good point!

I adored the daddy touching you scene for one reason. Did you notice how Sam immediatly sat up next to Dean and the way he totally mirrored Dean's body language down to how they held their hands. They showed a totally united front on the 'you know Jack shit about our Dad' front.

Maybe it's just me, but if Ruby had been able to go through with the spell, wouldn't Sam have died too, seeing as he's got demon blood in him?

See, I am still iffy about that, we don't know if ol' Yellow Eyes was even telling the truth, he could have created the 'vision' as a kind of 'selling point' to Sam, to try to lure him to their side, like "Hey, look, you are already one of us, you mine as well embrace it." But that doesn't mean its TRUE, it has been pounded into our heads that Demons lie, and twist the truth, and the YED was a powerful demon, so we can't take it as truth until they find out for sure. And really, he's not a demon persay, because he didn't spend centuries in hell forgetting his humanity, so maybe if he was part demon (or even infected with demon blood) only THAT part of him would be vaporized...which would have been a good thing, MAN! See, LOL, another reason for them to have gone through with Ruby's plan ;)

Its all speculation right now, I mean, Kripke keeps us guessing, cause only he kows the true truth :D

That's interesting, I hadn't thought of that angle! Maybe when Kripke finally decides to let us in on how it involves Mary and her friends, we might have some answers!

Yup, I agree, Angsty Sammy would have been better to end on! AND the whole "Super Angst" thing makes more sense if the deaths of this ep would have been before Mystery Spot.

And yeah, my mind is way to active, coming up with WAY to many scenarios! LOL, I wish Kripke would just let us in already!
